The Debut Of Skirt Leggings
Leggings are in style every now and then. They exit the fashion world only to resurface after a short while. They are typically fitted garments that are specifically designed to cover the legs. Originally worn by both men and women in doing exercise, the leggings have undergone their own evolution; there are many different styles, designs and materials. Of the modern styles, the skirt leggings are always included in catwalks and fashion shows. As leggings are predominantly worn by women, skirt leggings became one of the most popular styles.
Leggings made a debut in the fashion world in the 1960’s. In 1970’s the modern leggings came into the world of fashion, in the 1980’s they became a gym wear, in 1990’s they were layered with skirts and baby doll dresses. By the late 1990’s leggings lost their glamour. But in 2005, they made a remarkable comeback and since then, they have stayed as part of everyday fashion.
With the resurgence of leggings, skirt leggings were worn by children and women. They became one favorite outfit. And they were made of different fabrics, multitude of colors and decorative designs. They were made ankle length, mid-calf or knee length. And most of all, they were layered with different kinds of skirts.
If you want to go into this fashion of skirt leggings, make sure that this combination will flatter your figure or shape and that you are comfortable wearing this. If you are endowed with beautiful curves but are not comfortable wearing leggings you can wear them under the skirt that is knee length. But if your legs are your big asset, wear short or mini skirts.
Types Of Skirt Leggings Combinations
Trends dictate the different types of skirts that go with a pair of leggings. They can be any of the following:
- Pencil skirt – This is shaped long and straight like a pencil, from where its name came from.
- Tulip skirt – This is cut with more fabric around the hips than the pencil skirt. It gives the shape of an inverted tulip.
- Mini skirt – This type of skirt has a hemline that is above the knee. Still shorter version worn by fashionistas who dare to bare is the micro mini skirt. The longer skirt of this type with a hemline reaching the ankle is called maxi skirt.
- Full skirt – This type has more fullness in fabric and can give more fullness to a figure.
- Bias cut skirt – This skirt is cut across the fabric grain on a diagonal. This will create a flowing hemline which can be cut short or long.
Leggings will always be an “in-fashion”. Its comfortably, flexibility and affordability will always entice anyone to continue wearing them, particularly the skirt leggings.
